Project Overview

This product is a reviews platform, that helps users make informed decision on what venues to go to. It uses maps based technology as well as social media interactions and features to make viewing and creating reviews more engaging.

Problem Statement

Finding the right restaurant, bar, pub to go to can be quite tasking and just reading reviews from google, tripadziser etc., doesn't give a good context of what the experience of what the reviewer had. Also users would have to jump from different application like social media app (Instagram) to get a feel of the venue.

Wireframes

From the sitemap and flows I started to create wireframes of the main screens from onboarding to the main screens in the product.

Style guide

While designing I started to work on the design system to keep consistency and for the development team to be able to develop the elements separately. We choose a light theme which was in line with the Myne brand.

The Solution

Myne

A reviews platform, that helps users make informed decision on what venues to go to via shared social interactions.

Onboarding

For the onboarding the screens had to be easy to understand and straightforward, also we decided to give the user ability to review the app without them signing up. This gives the user better satisfaction before signing up.

Main Screens

While designing the screens, I used the Jacobs Law principle to help users feel comfortable using the product with familiar features and layout they are accustomed to from other social media apps and map app.

Leaving a Review

Reviews are like social media posts, they are visual and engaging. When designing I wanted it to be as familiar to the user as possible and as engaging while giving the user control.

Leaving a Pulse

Pulses are like snapchat or instagram stories which shows the experiences of users at a venue for the past 24 hours.

I created a prototype to test out the flow with myself and with others, select image to view and interact with the prototype.

Outcome and Reflection

I learnt a lot from this project, I was able to really emphasise with the users and put myself in their shoes.
Because this project was an MVP it made us really prioritise the features we could develop. I was fortunate enough to have been able to be part of the project from Idea stage all the way to prototype stage.

I was able to adjust with the fast paced nature of a startup which meant a lot of iterations and last minute changes, also I had to adapt the UX design process to make it fluid for an early stage startup environment.
